President says decision to postpone elections was a responsible one
In a news conference delivered today, Albanian president, Ilir Meta declared that he was obliged to cancel the election date.

The head of the Albanian state declared that he delivered this news conference for all of those who may have misread the country’s constitution. Addressing to the international community indirectly, Meta said that they may have misread the Albanian constitution due to errors in its translation.

“On June 8, before the protest, I announced my decision to cancel the elections. I took this decision with full responsibility based on facts and information which suggested that there was going to be instability on that date. Yesterday, I announced my arguments. I was obliged to deliver another news conference for all of those who may have misread the constitution. This is the constitution of this country”, said the head of the state.

Meanwhile, Meta also addressed to Albanian citizens saying that elections will be held after June 30. He also addressed political parties to find compromise with regards to a new election date. /ibna/
