Tax authorities announce new changes for 2019
The General Department of Taxes (DPT) has officially informed yesterday all taxpayers in the country about the main changes taking place in the list of national taxes for 2019. Changes have been made on mineral tax and packaging tax. According to this office, tax on exported chrome will be 7% on 1 January 2019, 8% on 1 January 2020 and 9% on 1 January 2021.

Authorities also explain that the tax on carbon emissions will not be paid for petrol and gasoil which are exported. As far as imported plastic products and plastic packaging are concerned, a 35 lek per kg will apply, with the exemption of raw materials. Meanwhile, tax on imported glass packaging and packaging manufactured in the country will be subject to a 5 lek per kg tax.  On the other hand, tax on raw materials which are imported and used for the manufacturing of plastic products will amount to 25 lek per kg.
