Bad weather sweeps across the country

Bad weather and low temperatures have swept across Albania in the last few days, while the situation today has deteriorated even more due to the heavy snowfall in many areas of the country.

As a result of this situation, around 280 schools nationwide have interrupted classes. In the southern most county of Albania, Gjirokastra, authorities have declared a state of emergency.

Meanwhile, road circulation is very hard in areas such as Korça, Shkodra, Puka, Dibra and Kukes and drivers are advised to use snow chains. The Ministry of Defence has demanded all local authorities to set up emergency teams in order to cope with the situation. /albanian free press/ibna/
