Government decides to ban the import of vehicles more than 10 years old

Starting from January 1^st next year, Albania will ban the import of vehicles more than 10 years old. This is the scope of a special draft prepared by the ministry of Environment which was announced a few days ago by minister Blendi Klosi. The aim of this bill is to reduce gas emissions, while explaining in detail how it will be implemented.

Meanwhile, older vehicles circulating on the road today, will not be banned, but they will be given time to adapt. The bill explains that the decision will apply to vehicles used for the transport of passengers and transport of goods and then it explains which categories will be exempted from this measure. Meanwhile, vehicles more than 10 years old which have already been imported in the country, will be given 4-5 months to be licensed.
