Socialist senior official says majority is determined to impeach president
The head of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla declared after a meeting held with representatives of the German Bundestag that 2019 will be the year when Albania opens accession negotiations.

Asked about the possibility of impeaching the country’s president, Ilir Meta, Balla said that the SP is determined to impeach him, because, according to him, he acted in breach of the constitution when he decided to cancel June 30 local elections.

“The Socialist Party has not withdrawn from its decision to impeach president Meta. I’m sorry parliament’s resolution has not been read like it should have. The President of Republic has acted in breach of the constitution. The president’s unprecedented act has no legal value. We must leave parliament do its job. On Thursday, MPs will hold a debate and in the end, they will come out with a conclusion”, Balla said. /ibna/
