Another three opposition candidates take their seats in parliament

More and more MPs taking their seat in Parliament. This is the picture that the country’s national assembly has to offer from one week to another as more opposition MPs are accepting the mandates that were relinquished by their former colleagues. So yesterday, the Central Election Commission has issued mandates for another three opposition MPs who were part of the Democrat Party candidate lists.

They are: Kujtim Gjuzi, who is also chairman of the Conservative Party. Gjuzi has been part of the Democratic Party lists in Durres. The Central Election Commission has also issued a mandate for Indrit Hoxha, who has been part of this political party in Tirana, along with Koçi Tahiri who was part of the Democratic Party candidate lists in Korça. The total number of MPs now is 116, while another 24 MPs are needed in order for the 140 parliamentary seats to be fully occupied. This process seems to be ongoing as more and more candidates are submitting their decriminalization forms at the Central Election Commission.

Everything started following the decision of the opposition three months ago to withdraw its MPs from parliament in a bid to oblige the government and Prime Minister Rama to resign.  Initially, there were three opposition MPs who refused to give up their parliamentary mandate: Lefter Koka of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Rudina Hajdari and Myslim Murrizi of the Democratic Party. This seems to have convinced many other opposition candidates to accept their parliamentary mandates.
