Businesses against car insurance fines

The new changes that are soon expected to be introduced in road regulation are expected to have a direct financial impact on costs for businesses and individuals. This is why parliament should not approve them. This was the appeal launched yesterday by the business organization, Konfindustria. This organization has also asked the president not to decree these changes.

“Penalties for road users may amount to millions of euros a year and this would only turn into profit for insurance companies”, Konfindustria says, confirming that “such problems come as a result of the ‘cartel’ type organization within the insurance market”. It’s unacceptable and anti-constitutional for individuals and businesses to be fined automatically up to 50 thousand leks if they fail to buy their insurance policy within 15 days after the expiry of the old one. Such practice that affects over 600 thousand car owners in Albania is not applied in other countries of the region, European Union and beyond.”
