Banking sector and insurance offer the highest paid jobs in the country
Do you want a highly paid job? Then the best thing to do is to work in a bank or an insurance company, because these are the two sectors that offer the highest paid jobs in the market. This is suggested by the latest figures issued by the Institute of Statistics, according to which, monthly average salary in the financial and insurance sector at the end of last year was 111.626 lek. Not only this is a significant amount of money for Albanian standards, but this figure has increased not only in comparison to last year, but also to the previous quarter.

On the other hand, it must be said that even lawmakers, senior state officials and executive directors are unable to receive such salaries. Last year, average salary for them was 101.886 lek. Nevertheless, it must be said that these two categories of people get double the average monthly wage, which is 52.312 lek, making them more privileged, in contrast to people who work in agriculture and who continue to be the most discriminated ones with an average salary of around 37.364 lek a month.

Average wage for people who work in commerce, transport, bars is 38.292 lek a month. Meanwhile, people who work in mines do not get paid more than 43 thousand or 44 thousand lek a month. On the other hand, all other categories seem to receive a monthly salary which is higher to 52.312 lek, starting with people who work in the leisure sector with 56.560 lek a month. Figures continue with public administration employees, defence, healthcare, social work, real estate, etc, who get paid on average around 60 to 62 thousand lek a month. IT and telecommunication jobs are also considered to be highly paid jobs with an average salary of around 77.719 lek a month.

Who received the biggest and the smallest pay rise last year?

According to INSTAT experts, average gross wage at the end of last year has increased. “Average wage was 52.312, 3.4% higher than the same quarter last year”, they confirm, adding that those who work in the leisure sector have had the highest pay rise of up to 10.3% compared to a year ago, followed by technicians and specialists, whose salaries have increased by 7.1%. “Meanwhile, construction is the only activity where salaries have seen a 1,2% cut.”
