Businesses unhappy with the services provided by government agencies

The majority of them are addressed to the ministry of Economy and Finance and also to the ministry of Infrastructure and Energy

An official complaint filed every day, alongside those that are voiced in different meetings that the business community holds and which relate to the lack of efficiency within state institutions. This is the situation regarding the discontent of the business sector in Albania as a result of the big difficulties that they have to put up on a daily basis. Such fact is also confirmed in the latest report published by the ministry for Enterprise. According to this report, during the month of November last year, businesses have submitted 33 complaints regarding different state agencies. What really catches the eye in this report is the fact that most of these complaints target the ministry of Finance and Economy, because this is the ministry in charge of taxation and customs. The complaints that have been addressed to this ministry mainly relate to the delays encountered in customs, the application of the reference price in customs instead of the transaction price, problems relating to the refund of Value Added Tax, difficulties in registering brands, etc. On the other hand, businesses also complain about the different fines given to them by tax authorities, considering them as unfair. On the other hand, there have also been companies which have sent their suggestions about the revision of several elements that are part of the tax policy for this year.

Businesses have also addressed a number of requests for the ministry of Infrastructure and Energy about the failure to comply with deadlines in issuing licenses, frequent power cuts and over billing. Meanwhile, the ministry of Agriculture has received complaints regarding unfair fines issued by the National Food Authority.
