Harmonization of diplomas, procedures that students need to follow
The Ministry of Education has determined the new criteria that students who have studied abroad, must follow

The Ministry of Education has issued new criteria as far as the harmonization of certificates and diplomas for pre-university education coming from abroad are concerned. Minister LinditaNikolla has signed a special order for the harmonization of certificates and diplomas.

Directive

Students who have studied abroad and wish to convert their diplomas in our country, must submit a number of extra documents. Under the latest directive, the documents that need to be submitted to Educational Departments will consist of: the request for the harmonization and a written declaration by the parent, documents showing that the student is continuing his studies, translated and notarized and equipped with the Apostille stamp of the country they come from. As far as the criteria and the procedures for the recognition of diplomas are concerned, the ministry of Education seems to have changed the method that institutions must follow.

“The Center for Educational Services (QSHA) carries out the procedures for the harmonization of certificates and diplomas for students coming from abroad, in order for them to continue their higher education and to use them for employment. The process of harmonization takes place throughout the entire year”, the directive says.

According to the directive, the harmonization of certificates or diplomas for students coming from abroad is done by the Special Commission set up at the Center for Educational Services.

University studies

Students coming from abroad who want to continue their university studies in our country, must send by mail or deliver to the Center of Educational Services documents such as: application form (the applicant may download it online), diploma and certificates accompanied by the list of grades, translated by a licensed translator and notarized, and equipped with Apostille stamps of the country that they come from.

“The document for the harmonization of the diploma or certificate is sent by the applicant or the interested employer by mail or delivered to the Center for Educational Services. The documents needed for the harmonization of the diploma for employment purposes are : application form (the applicant may download it online), a copy of the diplomaequipped with Apostille stamps of the country that they come from.

Following higher education

The Special Commission for students coming from abroad, who want to follow their higher education studies in Albania, deliberates and drafts within a period of five days the student’s document of harmonization, which determines:

  1. The index of the school attended;
  2. Average grade for all high school years;
  3. Harmonized grades with the A-level exams in the Republic of Albania;
  4. General average grade, harmonized.

Law and business administration are the most demanded subjects by students

Business administration is the most demanded subject by students, followed by law, while medicine ranks last in the list. These are the data published in the report of the Ministry of Education, based on the applications made by A level students during the two rounds of application in the first cycle. On top of the list of 20 programs is “Administration-Business” with 8734 applications, followed by “Law” with 8319 applications. Meanwhile, there have also been 8 thousand applications for “Social Work”. The number of applications for subjects such as Psychology and Political Sciences are 7400 and 7200 applications respectively in two rounds. English language also ranks among the most demanded programs with 6762 applications, followed by Finance with 6310 applications and journalism with 5670 applications. The top ten programs of the list consists of: “Administration and Social Policies” and “Economics”. Meanwhile, other programs in high demand are: Sociology, Economic Information, IT, Language and Literature, Telecommunication Engineering, Information Engineering, Finance-Accounting, General Medicine and Stomatology.
